Thank you, Dan!

We are pleased to announce to all of our churches and agencies that Dan Cody resigned as the Team Leader for the Fellowship Pacific Resource Team, effective the end of 2023.

That sounds bad, doesn’t it? So, why are we pleased?

It is not because Dan is difficult to work with! Dan Cody is one of the great people that some of us have the privilege to encounter in our life journey. He is a consummate team player, with a deeply compassionate heart for people. Dan remembers people, their names, and their stories. Within our Ministry Centre Team, Dan is the one who remembers birthdays, anniversaries, and the dreams of our co-workers. He is an encourager and builder of people.

It is also not because Dan is bad at his job. Quite the opposite! Dan has done an excellent job for our churches in the many facets of the Resource Team roles. This has included government intervention and documentation, salary assistance, and policy creation. He has been responsible for overseeing our on-line communication presence through the website, social media, and recently introducing the Commons, our on-line private platform. His role has also included the planning and implementation of our annual Impact conference. He has excelled at building a strong and unified team of individuals who have done well in each of these areas.

How then is it possible that we are pleased to announce his resignation?

Dan is now entering another stage of life in which there are some eyesight realities that are beginning to affect the choices he makes on a day-to-day basis. For example, he is now restricted to using public transit due to the need to give up his driver’s license. To be more specific, Dan has spent a lot of time finding ways around these restrictions to the point of kayaking across the Fraser River to get to work. It is true there may have been different options, but Dan is an out-of-the-box thinker.

The truth is that Pastor Dan Cody is looking forward to spending more time enjoying life, travel, family, and friends while still able to fully celebrate them. It is the hope of all of us at Fellowship Pacific that these hopes and dreams are completely realized and are extended for a long time.

It is because we trust in a sovereign and gracious God that we celebrate Dan’s retirement, and are pleased for him and his family. He is a wonderful friend and person, and will continue to be for all of us as he enters retirement. While we will miss him at work, we deeply appreciate the deep sense of values that led him to retire now.

And aren’t we all pleased to have the privilege of having people in our lives who model the priorities to which we all subscribe?
