Circle of Nations Day
Faith Fellowship Baptist Church has a long history of welcoming people from around the globe to their very international church family in Vancouver. Many that have been welcomed are not just new to Canada but new to the Christian faith as well. Some of these are refugees having fled from difficult circumstances in their home nations. Faith has been actively involved in sponsoring, welcoming and supporting refugee families to Canada from a variety of countries over the past number of years.
That is why FFBC celebrated its annual Circle of Nations Day this year on Sunday, June 12th. The service was designed to recognize and celebrate the participation of over 60 different nations as well as 7 generations! Pastor Jack Taylor introduced and recognized each nation’s attenders and their flags. Scriptures were read and songs were presented in many different languages. An international choir was also assembled.
Pastor Jack’s message, Discipleship… Why? Was a timely challenge and reminder of the importance of cross cultural evangelism and discipleship based on the Great Commission. The entire church family was invited to come up to the stage for a ‘family photo’.
Immediately after the church service all were welcomed to the international potluck… which turned out to be very international… and very lucky… to say the least! It featured the best of 6 continents and plenty of everything. Guests could be as adventurous or not as they chose - with plenty of options from every represented nation. Many were dressed in their national colors and outfits and the lower floor was congested with happy customers for the free all you can eat lunch and dessert.
What an amazing experience it was to see the genuine love this congregation has for its family members as well as the warm welcome it has for all of its guests. Highlights of the service as well as the international potluck lunch can be seen here.
