A Unity Built Through Humility

God does nothing by accident.

Relationships are God-created, God-given, and delivered in God’s perfect time. We may not always recognize these truths nor understand them, but as we experience them we often stand in awe of what he is doing. As we should.

For many years, Fellowship Pacific has partnered with our Korean brothers and sisters to see Christ’s love come to our region’s communities. Together, we have pioneered to plant churches, met needs amongst First Nation peoples, and sought to grow into a more multi-ethnic, multi-cultured Fellowship. We are so grateful to the Spirit for this unified partnership.

God is taking things up a notch.

He is working in the hearts of his church, his leaders, our Korean family, Northwest Seminary, and Fellowship Pacific towards unprecedented levels. Over the past few years we have seen an increase in Korean leaders and churches who join Fellowship Pacific, step up into roles in Fellowship churches, graduate from Northwest, and invest their God-given abilities to mentor and equip future generations.

God always brings things into perspective.

Humility seems to be one of those character traits that is craved by our society and yet is so often experienced in short supply. Many Korean pastors are helping us re-discover this Jesus exampled humility.

One illustration of this comes through seeing many Korean pastors choose to respect our understanding of baptism by practicing immersion. These pastors were traditionally baptized to identify themselves with the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. It just happened to be a different mode in their tradition. It takes great humility to make this choice for these pastors.

This choice reminds me that the ground is level at the foot of the cross. We all stand in the same place before Jesus, humbled by his grace for us. We stand together with Jesus—in life, in death, and in resurrection. Jesus is our life for today and for eternity. By watching what our Korean leaders (and any of our leaders for that matter) are doing through immersion, I am reminded and humbled by God’s grace. Again and again. I am also excited to partner with leaders who have such integrity.

God is giving our region a bright future through a formidable team.

Thank you Jesus. Thank you risk-takers. Thank you team.
